Basic American Buttercream

Sweet American buttercream with a consistency good for decorating cakes and cupcakes

• Salted Butter: 1 cup, softened
• Vanilla extract: 2-3 tsp
  
  
• Confectioner's sugar: 1 lb
  
  
• Milk: 1-2 tbsp

1. Add softened butter and vanilla to mixing bowl and mix until completely combined
2. Add powdered sugar in batches and beat on low until incorporated. Increase speed to medium-high, scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. When completely mixed, frosting may appear dry
3. Add milk a bit at a time until proper consistency is achieved - if adding food coloring, do this before adding milk
